XDM Tourture Test

Yesterday I posted about Springfield Armory’s new XDm. Today I put it through the ringer.  The torture tested XD(m) performed perfectly.  I ran 200 rounds through it in about 5 minutes.

The only problem with the pistol’s performance was due to ammo.  A re-loaders nightmare happened not only 1 time but 3 times within a few minutes of each other.  The reloaded ammo did not have powder or had bad powder when the round fired.  The fast burn rate primers forced the bullet into the barrel.  Since I know the re-loader, me, I want give them too much grief.

The near 250 rounds I ran through Springfield Armory’s new polymer pistol were on target from about 5 yards away. I still have not done a complete test.  I If you have any specific test that you would like to know about don’t hesitate to contact me.  I will do the the test within reason.  (ie.  running over the XDM with a truck is not an option).

I bought an XD-M in .40 and had multiple failures with mid-range federal and winchester ranger hollowpoint ammo. Every couple of rounds it would jam. It’s definitely not operator error. The hollowpoints were catching on the chamber hood where it’s grooved for better ejection. I called Springfield and was told to shoot 180 grain jacketed ball ammo. I wasn’t satisfied with that answer. I don’t want to carry ball ammo in it. I have reloaded up some hornady 155 and 180 grain XTP bullets over blue dot. I’m hoping that these tighter hollowpoints will feed reliably. I’d hate to have spent $700 for a paper weight.
