XDM 40 Prices

Update: on Prices and Market Demand Post Election

I have started to receive a lot of e-mail about the price of XDM 40’s.   I must confess…   I typically don’t keep up with prices after I make the purchase.   Why?   Because often enough the price drops and I have one of those Homer Simpson “Dooh” moments.   In this case it looks like my XDM 40 price for $550 was good.   Some of the e-mails I have been receiving are outrageously priced.   The highest I have heard was from Maryland coming in at a cool $725.

Hey i live in Mia, FL and i was looking somewhere to purchase this gun or at
least try it out. it would be great if you could point me in the right
direction my local gun shop has the gun for $750 :/ so its way to expensive.

Now I admit there are some great weapons out there in that range. I love my XD(M) and have run it through the rinnger. But anything over $650 I would maybe take a look at the lesser Glocks.   Yes I favor the XD’s over the glock but only because of the fit in my hand.   Performance wise they can be as good with some mods.   But partly because of the cool factor you get from breaking the mold of fashionable weapons going with the XDM.

If you are checking prices around on the internet you are sure to find lower prices than I am getting quoted on e-mail.   The Lowest prices I have come across is my local range has an online store and they can transfer in the US within the limits of the law.   Cheaper than the store is quoting you surely.   If you would like you can call them and ask   205.744.2600 or online. They have several knowledgeable people on staff. If they can’t help you then you should try to contact Simmons in Besemer, AL.   Simmons is my first stop when purchasing.   They are the leading weapons retailer in the state.   In fact most of the gun sellers in Alabama get their inventory from them.   So if Simmons or Pleasant Grove FOP can’t handle it I will try and rustle up a few interstate vendors who can.

Simmons Logo FOP Range Logo

I have a hard time believing that vendors are charging so high for them.   They are above MSRP.   I believe MSRP for the XDM is $600 and $650.   I am not sure of that perhaps some of my readers will know better.   If you are a vendor and have access to fair xdm pistol prices and can ship it out reasonably well let me know and I can share your information for a plug.

If I here of an xdm 40 sale I will post it up.   Coming up soon I imagine there will be a sale on them.   Also if you know of any xdm pistol prices let me know.   Especially when the XDM 9mm comes out. (The XDm 9mm is out)

Just bought an XDM for 575.00 from my local dealer. Priced with another dealer and they were a little higher in the 600 range. Where I bought it, the price tag was $599 but he came down to $575. The local problem on pricing is also being affected by demand increasing while the dealers are only able to get 2-6 XDm’s at a time to sell. I was on a waiting list for 4 weeks before buying mine. For the quality and price I got it at, I was happy but was also dickering with myself to just get a regular XD or a Glock. The add-on mods on the XDm are what made the difference to me. I love the Match barrel and also I am in love with the grip, balance and feel of the XDm. Having 3 different sized back straps to make it fit your hand is a real good seller to get that “feel” and grip more satisfactory than the others I was considering. For the additional money, it seems worth it to me.

If Ops units really existed and they knew their equipment well to include the Glock very well and for a long time and you asked one of them if you should take the XDM or Glock they would ask you how much is your life worth and direct you towards the XDM.There is a reason for the price increase its called proven and the glock has saved my little butt manya times. I know there is a speed and driver debate on ,is that extra penny worth what is posted on paper almost bragging the XDM factors. That is not bragging that is reality. If Ops existed for real I am sure they would have all converted over to the XDM and it would have proven itself by now with a 100% for the first time rate over the 1911.Yes you can buy a more expensive exotic piece but not one you want to loose if your in the game. For $700 you got a super deal anything less you got a steal. They are worth every penny and more. They may even go up.If they do what is your life worth? $50 or $100 more or no? Buy the XDM I think they will increase in price. If not they should.

Yeah, I don’t get that. Shooters talk so much smack about gun reliability and then go out and buy the cheapest ammo they can get their hands on, then blame the gun if it chokes on it. How cheap do you need to be, you can spend $600 on a gun but have to buy the cheapest wallyworld ammo available? I think it is a reasonable expectation to rely on a handgun to perform in life or death circumstances in that price range and truly believe that you can, but in that case why go so cheap? If you tried driving a high performance european sports car on cheap tires you’d loose traction and crash. Stick a crowbar in your wallet and buy ammo that’s got a little pride in it’s tolerances. A gourmet meal on a dirty plate will still make you sick.

Well, after doing some very intense research and testing, I must retract my last statement about Magsafe ammo. It simply does NOT have enough penetration. Yes, it is pre fragmented and gives you the odds of hitting a vital organ, but a possible critical strike to a vital organ is not enough to stop an attacker. The ONLY way to stop an attack cold is to hit the brain or spinal column. Your ammo must have a minimum of 12 inches penetration. More often than not , in a self defense situation a hand or arm will be in the way of your torso shot. Your ammo needs to be able to penetrate a large forearm through the bone, and then penetrate the torso to reach the spinal column. Even if the heart is destroyed the brain will function for ten to fifteen seconds…giving your attacker plenty of time to return fire. Sorry for the mistake guys!!!!! I would recomend any 180 gr JHP From Remmington or Winchester. These 40cal bullets have reliable penetration of 16 to 21 inches in b gel…

I think “The Bullet Boys” hit the nail on the head. The knee jerk reaction fueled by many (especially the gun store owners) has been to buy at any cost. I am not really concerned about getting an assualt rifle…just a XDM, or M&P. The price range is crazy. Here in my home town they are pushing the 700 dollar envelope- and with out a blink of an eye tell me if I want it I better get it now because you might not be able to get them….still hinting at the fact that Obama is going to ban everything. Even though I just bought a .38 snub nose, two weeks ago, for 200 less than what they wanted. Stop sticking it to the gun owners…we all know you have to make a profit but come on! On any given day I can purchase a firearm for 2-300 dollars less than my local store…they are not hurting for business. Sorry…just had to get my little rant on.

@Brent Retherford In recent months $589 is a good price the best I can tell. I haven’t been looking at prices too much but know they have gone up. The price on guns typically goes up every year and it has been a year since I bought mine.

I’ve been interested in the XDm .40 since they came out. My friend has an XD .45 and his brother has the XDm .40, I tried them both and love them. I just haven’t had the money to purchase one, but will soon and can’t wait. As far as good self-defense ammo, Federal Hydra-Shok is what I carry in my Taurus 9mm and all of my friends pack the same in theirs. Again, pricey…but I believe it’s worth it.
