Gun Prices

November 12th, 2008 1 comment

I get lots of questions about XDM prices and in doing so I hear prices all over the place that people get quoted.   When I purchased my XDM the market demand was lower and It seems that demand for guns is up around the country.

CNN.com is reporting that gun sales have surged since Barack Obama has become President Elect. The CNN article quotes gun shop owner Bernie Conatser –   “I have been in business for 12 years, and I was here for Y2K, September 11, Katrina,” Conatser said, as a steady stream of customers browsed what remained of his stock. “And all of those were big events, and we did notice a spike in business, but nothing on the order of what we are seeing right now.” And the LA Times is reporting that the surge is “brisk, particularly for military-style weapons, because people are concerned about stricter gun laws after Barack Obama becomes president and Congress begins leaning more to the left.” Even Alaskan’s are Nervous and Armed according to the Anchorage Daily News.

So what all this means for XDM owners and potential owners is that Gun Shop’s are going to be less willing negotiate on price – while they capitalize on the bubble in the rush to purchase weapons.   If you wait the prices will come down but then again you might not be able to purchase it all.   I doubt the XDM will be on any list to ban except perhaps a HI-Cap Magazine may be out.   But truly nothing will really happen to the XDM.   There is a bubble and demand for the weapon so a Price of less than $600 out the door for the .40 S&W in all black and the Bi-tone for $620 is pretty good in the current situation.   I suspect that the demand for the 9mm is about $10 more than the .40 S&W.

In a following article I will talk more about the price gouging and what we are really facing.   The XDM falls into the sensible weapon category and very little needs to be worried about.   Stay tuned for a full analysis of the market situation and what is to come in the political reality of what is to come.

XDM 40 Prices

Update: on Prices and Market Demand Post Election

I have started to receive a lot of e-mail about the price of XDM 40’s.   I must confess…   I typically don’t keep up with prices after I make the purchase.   Why?   Because often enough the price drops and I have one of those Homer Simpson “Dooh” moments.   In this case it looks like my XDM 40 price for $550 was good.   Some of the e-mails I have been receiving are outrageously priced.   The highest I have heard was from Maryland coming in at a cool $725.

Hey i live in Mia, FL and i was looking somewhere to purchase this gun or at
least try it out. it would be great if you could point me in the right
direction my local gun shop has the gun for $750 :/ so its way to expensive.

Now I admit there are some great weapons out there in that range. I love my XD(M) and have run it through the rinnger. But anything over $650 I would maybe take a look at the lesser Glocks.   Yes I favor the XD’s over the glock but only because of the fit in my hand.   Performance wise they can be as good with some mods.   But partly because of the cool factor you get from breaking the mold of fashionable weapons going with the XDM.

If you are checking prices around on the internet you are sure to find lower prices than I am getting quoted on e-mail.   The Lowest prices I have come across is my local range has an online store and they can transfer in the US within the limits of the law.   Cheaper than the store is quoting you surely.   If you would like you can call them and ask   205.744.2600 or online. They have several knowledgeable people on staff. If they can’t help you then you should try to contact Simmons in Besemer, AL.   Simmons is my first stop when purchasing.   They are the leading weapons retailer in the state.   In fact most of the gun sellers in Alabama get their inventory from them.   So if Simmons or Pleasant Grove FOP can’t handle it I will try and rustle up a few interstate vendors who can.

I have a hard time believing that vendors are charging so high for them.   They are above MSRP.   I believe MSRP for the XDM is $600 and $650.   I am not sure of that perhaps some of my readers will know better.   If you are a vendor and have access to fair xdm pistol prices and can ship it out reasonably well let me know and I can share your information for a plug.

If I here of an xdm 40 sale I will post it up.   Coming up soon I imagine there will be a sale on them.   Also if you know of any xdm pistol prices let me know.   Especially when the XDM 9mm comes out. (The XDm 9mm is out)
