Back in April I received an e-mail notice from DPMS, INC announcing a new iPhone & iPod Touch app sponsored by DPMS and by Freedom group. I haven’t tried it because I’m not much of a gamer but did think it was noteworthy.
Day 3 of the BLACKHAWK blogger seminar was ripe full of activities. Probably the most notable was playing paintball with Navy SEALs and professional shooters. At first it can seem very intimidating to go toe-to-toe with experts of their crafts… But, in reality when the whistle blows all bets are off and paint is flying at anyone. I can say that I successfully gunned down 1 Navy SEAL and owned Todd Jarrett.
Day three concluded with saying goodbye’s and enjoying dinner at a local dive near Norfolk, VA with the Blogger’s and BLACKHAWK team. Thanks to Jeff Rose of Team BLACKHAWK put together a video for the closing dinner.

Blogger Profile: Kenn Blanchard – Black Man with a Gun – I’ve been a “guard” or a protector of some type all my life. The oldest child, the responsible one. In elementary school I was a crossing guard, a cub scout. My first job was as a life guard in a really rough neighborhood. It was more like being a bouncer that wore shorts. I joined the US Marines after high school trying to overcome some low self-esteem issues. In the military, I was often “volunteered” to escort prisoners or stand guard duty. I ended up as a Marine Security Guard serving in a couple of places abroad. I’ve worked protective details for international celebrities, US diplomats. Later after becoming a federal police officer, I was detailed to protect a couple of families which morphed into another career path where I worked or taught firearms, tactics and protection. I was into counter terrorism before it was a household word and knuckle-draggers like me, and the bad guys passed each other in airports around the world.
Day two of the BLACKHAWK! seminar was fantastic. We got to view several products that which overtime you are sure to hear about some of the things as time goes on.
We got plenty of time on the range using live rounds. Along with the other bloggers Todd Jarrett put on a Demonstration and training session using BLACKHAWK’s SERPA system’s.
In the picture above you can see me in blue collar shirt drawing. During the most part of the pistol portion of the range Todd Jarrett stood next to me to do the demo portion. It was great to be up close and watch a master shooter. Though not all of my shoots were not on target… during the drills being around such talented shooters made me a better shooter.
Having grown up in a Forest Service family Kevin began his time in the woods at a very young age on the back of his father being packed up the mountains on fly fishing trips in the Tahoe National Forest. His first hunt came in 1975 at the age of 5 with his father chasing mule deer along the Nevada border. On that first hunt he saw the Western most herd of Antelope and watched his father take a mule deer. Kevin was hooked on hunting and the pursuit of big game.
Over the last 37 years Kevin has hunted as far north as Saskatchewan, owned an outfitting business, chased and guided elk hunters in Idaho and now is the President and CEO of HuntingLife.com.
Kevin has also dedicated his life to conservation and maintains a strict policy of donating 10% of his personal earnings to conservation organizations and 10% from HuntingLife.com to conservation. Kevin is a committee member for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Life Member and is a committee member for the NWTF. His membership in several organizations shows his dedication to habitat and youth hunting.
