I am looking for an xdm 9mm for around the price you stated in the write up. Any way you could point me towards that direction? And I am looking for a pistol to carry once i get my permit in a couple weeks and my step dad was telling me this would be too big to conceal and i would hate it but i dont think i want a compact pistol. Any ideas or comments are welcome from anyone. Thanks,

Sounds like you are not a good shot if you couldn't hit anything with the glock. however, I cannot say anything about the xd's because I have never shot one. I have held one but they are very bulky. I will say they have a lot of safety features offered to the gun but that can be very dangerous to an officer as well.@t

my father has a g22, i have a g23 and the xdm. my father and i have had our glocks for quite some time now, we have both groan to love them, altho we have had numerous problems with them, they are cheap to fix. i got my xdm no more than a month after its release, and i am amazed with its acuracy, it is by far the most impressive polymer framed handgun ive ever shot! the safety is very reliable, the trigger is the smoothest ive ever squeased, and the grip is the best ive ever held. i dnt want to knock the glock, they have earned the respect they have among the gun community, but in my opinion the XDM is by far the better gun. since i got mine, my father has been looking to trade in his glock as well, he shoots comp, and uses my xdm every time. he dosent want to sell the glock, but he wants to switch it to his back up when he gets the xdm.

I bought and XDM .40 last week after shooting a friends xd .40 and handling the xdm in the store. I put 300 rounds the first week. I haven't owned a handgun in a few years( ast as a 1911 .45), but this thing was a dream to fire. It is very accurate. The trigger pull and reset are the best I've seen from a stock gun. I shot a match with it this week, and the grip is incredible. I love the firing position compared to the glock.
2 cons:
My wife has a difficult time with the slide, and she never had that problem when dealing with 1911s.
It's going to cost me more. It's such a joy to shoot that I have to get equipment to reload .40!

I bought an XD-M in .40 and had multiple failures with mid-range federal and winchester ranger hollowpoint ammo. Every couple of rounds it would jam. It's definitely not operator error. The hollowpoints were catching on the chamber hood where it's grooved for better ejection. I called Springfield and was told to shoot 180 grain jacketed ball ammo. I wasn't satisfied with that answer. I don't want to carry ball ammo in it. I have reloaded up some hornady 155 and 180 grain XTP bullets over blue dot. I'm hoping that these tighter hollowpoints will feed reliably. I'd hate to have spent $700 for a paper weight.

I've been a member of the 7th SF out of Fort Bragg, NC and 10th SF out of Fort Carson, CO for a total of 11 years now. I carry an XD as my side arm. I've fired many different handguns in my career. I've never had any problem with my XD. It's withstood a lot since i've had it; sand, water, cold, warm, etc... I find handguns to be like motorcycles. Everyone's taste is different. I like the feel of a Ducati to a Ninja. It is your duty to try before you buy. What puts XD over the top for me is durability, balance, feel, accuracy, and realibility.
